NYC: RSVP-event
oganized by Archis
bi-monthly magazine, and cultural thinktank for architecture,
city and visual culture
New York City,
May 16, 2004
Time and place t.b.a.
Most cultural debate
today is organized according to worn-out formulas: the conference, the
lecture, the seminar, the workshop. Art and architecture seems to have
been reduced to the mantra of academic exchange, far removed from realities
in which they are not only topic of discussion, but also a source of conflict.
Archis is therefore introducing a new form of debate. Events in which
reflection and action coincide.
Archis RSVP Events are a series of nine actions that will be organized
all over the world - from Berlin to Beijing, from Amman to New York.
They are response-based - The form of each event is determined by the
size of the response; in other words, we ask people to respond to the
content and this response helps us to determine the actual form of the
event which might be anything from mass demonstration to free-running,
from cruise to performance; from mega event to flash mob.
