Thomas Widdershoven and Nikki Gonnissen, founding partners of Amsterdam-based studio Thonik®, will be part of the "Insights: Double Vision 2003 Design Lecture Series" at The Walker Art Center in Minneapolis on Tuesday, March 18, 2003. Their work includes identity programs, media campaigns, and book design. Thonik® proclaims "the designer as director, as conceptual artist, as strategist, as media expert, and as obstinate busybody," and has created identity programs for documenta XI, the Centraal Museum, Utrecht, and 1ab, the first architectural biennial of Rotterdam.

The National Building Museum presents a major exhibition on “green” architecture, titled Big & Green: Toward Sustainable Architecture in the 21st Century. Through in-depth profiles of approximately 50 contemporary green projects worldwide (including work by MVRDV), along with a broad examination of global ecological and economic forces, the exhibition will demonstrate the transformative powers of sustainable design.
Big & Green
will be on view through June 22, 2003 and will be accompanied by an extensive lecture series.

The Battery Conservancy and the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation announced on the selection of internationally acclaimed Dutch horticulturist and landscape designer Piet Oudolf to design the Gardens of Remembrance, 10,000 square feet of perennial plantings, flowers and passages for meditation honoring those who perished on September 11th, 2001.

It provides a wide array of information about the arts, design, food, nightlife & music, architecture, fashion and shopping in these dynamic capitals, as well as cool travel ideas. Several Cool Capital Salons, avant-garde party events for the hip and cool consumer and traveler, are planned for New York and Los Angeles in August and Fall of 2003, and a number of newsletters are scheduled to appear.
