Artifort
& Lande present new furniture lines during the 17th International
Contemporary Furniture Fair
Artifort
presents new designs from their wide roster of designers, including
Boson by Patrick Norguet, Diva by Karel Boonzaaijer and Dick
Spierenburg, Kirk and Megan by René Holten.
Boson
Design:
What defines matter? According to physical theories from the
60's, matter is strongly connected with "Higgs Boson",
a particle or range of particles that shape substance. The concept
of the chair is: Working with synthetic material, visual substance,
weightlessness.
Construction:
The first objective in creating the chair was to optimize applied
material to offer a new and plain seating system; minimizing
the synthetic material to obtain an ideal balance between form
and function.
Designer:
Patrick Norguet lives and works in Paris, commissioned by several
furniture manufacturers such as Cappellini, Livit en Moroso.
His earlier work includes the Chair Apollo and What's up for
Artifort.
Diva
Design:
Diva is designed by Karel Boonzaaijer and Dick Spierenburg.
Their starting point was the wish to create seating with natural
and playful lines in combination with optimal physical and visual
comfort. The light slopes change to fluent roundings, giving
the sofa a very friendly and inviting signature. The balance
between form and proportion make the Diva, contrary to the generous
seating comfort, a compact presence. Applicable in small and
big spaces; balanced and surprising design, it is closely related
to the image and character of the Artifort collection.
Collection:
Diva is available as an arm-chair, 2-seater and 2,5 seater.
Designers:
Karel Boonzaaijer and Dick Spierenburg design products and surroundings.
They brought creativity and experience together in 2001 to give
their ideas extra power and perspective. Separately they designed
successful products for international design names. Boonzaaijer
(1948) and Spierenburg (1953) work for products and spatial
surroundings as designers and advisors. The signature of the
partners is recognizable in the collective designs. They prefer
simplicity, originality and quality. Renewal connected to realism
is their ambition, whereby utility and feasibility are indissoluble
connected to a powerful language of forms and aesthetical balance.
Kirk
Design:
Hanging in space, free-floating on a slender landing-gear. Designed
by René Holten. A strong arm-chair with a clear character.
Love it or hate it. Ideal for lobbies, lounges or talk-shows,
Kirk is certainly an eye-catcher. A deep, comfortable seat with
a surprisingly good back support. Kirk is available in various
fabrics and upholstery materials.
Material:
Metal frame with tubular base. Swiveling with a self-return
mechanism.
Designer:
René Holten, (Design-Academy, Eindhoven and working for
several manufacturers and architects) also designed for Artifort
Tara, Mare and Ondo and the following chair and arm-chairs:
Dodo, Libel and Nina. Dodo was awarded the Dutch Furniture Award
in 1998, Libel received the award “Good Industrial Design”
in 2001.
Megan

Designed by René Holten. An elegant arm-chair, perfectly
suited for the conference room or dining room. The seating-shell
is closed, the base is open. Megan is available as a 4-leg chair
and arm-chair, with a sledge base as a chair and arm-chair,
