Aziz collaborates with performance artist Marina Abramovic at the Guggenheim Museum in New York

Dutch fashion designer Aziz and performance artist Marina Abramovic will collaborate again. After the success of their collaboration during the Egon Schiele project in the Amsterdam Van Gogh Museum, Abramovic and Aziz have decided to continue their collaboration. Aziz will be designing for Abramovic's new piece that will premiere on November 15, 2005 in the Guggenheim Museum in New York as part of her project Seven Easy Pieces.

About Aziz
Aziz Bekkaoui (Berkane, 1969) graduated from the Fashion Department at Arnhem Art Academy in 1995. His career immediately took off: He won the 1996 Grand Prix for the best women's collection during the XIe International Festival des Jeunes Stylistes Hyères. Soon after he was selected by Paco Rabanne as most promising young designer to show his collection at the Louvre during the Paco Rabanne Couture presentations. In the years following, Bekkaoui showed his collection in among others Amsterdam, London, Austria and France. He has exhibited in among others the Centraal Museum in Utrecht, the Musée de la Mode in Paris, the Municipal Museum in The Hague, and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.

About Marina Abramovic: Seven Easy Pieces
Since the beginning of her career in Belgrade during the early 1970s, Marina Abramovic has pioneered the use of performance as a visual art form. The body has always been both her subject and medium, and the parameters of her early performances were determined by her endurance. In Seven Easy Pieces Abramovic reenacts seminal performance works by Vito Acconci, Joseph Beuys, Valie Export, Bruce Nauman, and Gina Pane dating from the 1960s and 1970s, interpreting them as one would a musical score and documenting their realization. The project is premised on the fact that little documentation exists for most performance works from this critical early period; one often has to rely upon testimonies from witnesses or photographs that show only portions of any given piece. Seven Easy Pieces examines the possibility of redoing and preserving such performative work. Presented in the Rotunda over a seven-day period, the works include a new piece by Abramovic on November 15 created for this project.
