Hardware to Softform, lecture by Winka Dubbeldam at the Art
Institute of Chicago
Winka Dubbeldam
is a leading voice in the education and practice of architecture.
As a solo practicioner, she is proncipal of Archi-Tectonics,
a New York-based studio whose international projects utilize
hybrid materials, smart building systems, and movable space.
These elements manifest themselves in commercial projects such
as the design of Bitforms, a digital gallery in New York, as
well as in residential projects such as the Greenwich Street
Project and Vestry Street Project, also in New York. Concurrently
Dubbeldam holds the prestigious position of Director of the
Post-Professional Program and Associate Professor of Practice
at the University of pennsylvania School of Design. The studio's
work has been exhibited internationally, and is held in the
collections of the Museum of Modern Art, Netherlands Architecture
Institute, FRAC Centre, and the Carnegie Museum of Art.
